"PM Marape should also be blamed."
It seems that there is a growing sentiment among the public that Prime Minister Marape should share the blame for the "Savannah Tiktok scandal". While much of the public outcry has been directed towards former Foreign Affairs Minister Justin Tkatchenko for his indecent conduct, some are questioning how the approval for the London King Charles coronation trip was given in the first place. The argument is being made that PM Marape endorsed the trip and would have been aware of the large delegation and exorbitant cost, as well as the inclusion of a non-citizen in the delegation.
Furthermore, some are suggesting that Tkatchenko was "not the best fit for the job and only got the position due to political convenience." It's being compared to asking a mechanic to become a chef and then being surprised when engine oil ends up in the soup. Additionally, it's being noted that Tkachenko was also assisting the Defence Minister on PNG's Defence Cooperation Agreements with the United States and Australia, suggesting that he was juggling too many responsibilities.
The Defence Minister is also being criticized for not being up to the task, with some pointing out that they have not given a statement or press conference on security and defence in some time. Overall, it seems that there is frustration with the way foreign affairs, trade, investment, military, defence, and protection of national security have been handled under PM Marape's leadership.
